Spelling With Words

I've done some volunteer work for the Al Franken for Senate campaign here in Minnesota, and sport a "Franken For Senate" bumper sticker (among many others) on my car. That's what got me this nicely-crafted little note, left neatly folded and tucked under my driver's side windshield wiper. One has to marvel at the layers of convolution and subtext: it's addressed not to me but Al, yet doesn't criticize Al so much as Michael Moore, while implicitly defending Rush Limbaugh, the subject of Al's book from maybe ten years ago, "Rush Limbaugh Is A Big Fat Idiot."

Does this gentleman (I'm assuming it's not a woman) think his anonymous retort in an imaginary conversation is somehow going to make its way up the chain to the big, Rush-bashing kahuna? That spells nutty...

At any rate, I give him an "A" for effort... he used two different colors of markers, taped up a tear on the lower left hand side of the note, and stuck the thing on my car under cover of darkness. He's also held a grudge over that book for quite some time. A lot of work went into this.

Bravo, sir! Happy holidays; come forward and you shall receive a prize of the Magpo product of your choice!

Bridge Puzzle, Part Two

Wow. This interactive multimedia piece by the Star Tribune is spectacular. Really spotlights the possibilities of internet journalism. Check it out, but give yourself some time; you'll want to watch the video accounts of some of the survivors.

My "new favorite" blog...

...is The “Blog” of “Unnecessary” Quotation Marks, and it's hilarious. Makes me want to start my own variation, The Blog of Misused Apostrophe's...

Bridge Puzzle

The twisted wreckage of the I35W bridge here in Minneapolis (which my son and I drove across twice a couple of hours before it fell) has been removed from the site and neatly arranged on the West Bank of the University of Minnesota, making for an interesting found-art sculpture garden...

Miracle that only 13 died...
