Last Blast?

April 26th, and we got half an inch of snow overnight. Eighteen inches on the ground just a few miles north. Yeesh! But the Garden Goddess remains sanguine as she begins to grow out her chive hair.

By the way, I did nothing to protect her or her chives over this very harsh winter; she just sat there on the steps through months of brutal cold, and this is how she emerged. Beautiful.

Nursing Home, Sick, Dead

Our band (Horno, which is a type of Mexican clay oven, and no, we don't play mariachi music) played at The Minneapolis Eagles Club, a sort of legion hall type place mostly frequented by friendly, elderly barflies. My Friend, Berry

...Holz, that is, is an artist on the rise. She's been showing all over the place, and producing new work as fast as her skinny little fingers can crank it out. Twenty Seven

Some of you know that I collect the work of the graffiti artist, 27. I've met this mysterious (and somewhat pallid) figure and bought framed art from him, but my favorite stuff appears in the most unexpected places and moments, like the other day during a bike ride to Wayzata. Here's a little scene he painted on a caboose.

Dirty Old Snowman

Seen on Lyndale, the coolest street in this city, yesterday. This morning I drove by and someone had destroyed him. Idiots.

The Roundest Tree on Bryant

...and an odd study in contrasts from the previous post. How (and why) does someone trim something this tall?
