Just back from Marquette, Michigan and the Ore To Shore mountain bike race which I did with my buddies, Hans and Dave. The race itself was epic; 48 miles through beautiful forests, historic small towns and sand... lots and lots of sand. I'm not exaggerating when I say that a third of the course was just like riding down the middle of a sandy beach. I went over the handlebars and flipped into some soft, friendly weeds (others were not so lucky) when a huge pileup occurred around me on a descent so dark and dusty that I may as well have had my eyes closed. Still, we all did well and most importantly, had a great and truly mystically charged time... strange occurences one on top of the other that almost seemed designed to enlarge our lives. Weird, fun, exhausting... great.
