This has been the most amazing summer for wild mushrooms. The woods are full of them (super delicious Chanterelles especially... I've got pounds of them in my freezer), and I keep on finding strange varieties, like these, for instance (anybody know what they are?), in public places. These phallic wonders were next to the bike path over by Lake Hiawatha. The reason it's been so great this summer is that we keep getting big rain dumps followed by heat and humidity... perfect for shrooms.
